Large main wetland is a huge stand of Spiraea alba. Drier islands on sides of fingers are Picea rubens forest (no Rhododendron maximum!). Upland slopes are northern hardwoods with abundant black cherry.;Wet finger seep draining into large alluvial wetland. Soils are wetter than main wetland. Community dominated by hummock forming Osmunda cinnamomea with Thelypteris palustris in flat center of gut. Spruce regeneration may indicate eventual succession towards conifer swamp.
Representativeness
Plot covers most of this narrow finger wetland community. This stand is distinguished by a large patch of Thelypteris palustris. This type is often dominated by pure Osmunda with sedges.
